Robin Williams as Popeye

I was in my favorite local video shop and the topic came up concerning which Robin Williams films were actually that good. I found myself scratching my head and in conversation only a provisional few emerged: The World According to Garp, World's Greatest Dad, maybe, and I even happen to think Mrs. Doubtfire ain't too bad as kids movies go. But that evening I remembered Robert Altman's bizarre live action Popeye film (clip above), which though critically and commercially trounced, is a really weird and wonderful film. Getting all set to mull this dubious masterpiece over again, I saw that another critic in a higher profile setting came to a similar conclusion, so if you dare, you can read Eric Spitznagel's essay in Vanity Fair.
